BRUSSELS: Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.03% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.79% or 1.98 points to trade at 72.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 2.09% or 1.10 points to end at 53.83 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 1.51% or 0.84 points to 56.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 1.02% or 0.14 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 0.72% or 0.75 points to end at 103.75 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was down 0.71% or 0.270 points to 37.795.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 64 to 42 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telenet Group (BR:TNET) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.51% or 0.84 to 56.58.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.37 to $1265.83 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $49.83 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $52.61 a barrel.
