DHAKA: The Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was held on Monday. Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque and his Sri Lankan counterpart Esala Weerakoo discussed bilateral issues during the secretary level meeting held at state guest house Padma around 3pm.
Wishing anonymity, a foreign ministry official told the Dhaka Tribune that a total of 30 issues, including bilateral trade and connectivity, were discussed in the meeting. Issues related to establishing relations between Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI), information sharing, nurse training, bilateral cooperation in RMG sector were also highlighted in the discussion. The meeting was scheduled to be held on May 25 but the date was postponed due to sudden reshuffle in the Sri Lankan ministry.
