OTTAWA: The Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policy reported that the negotiations to restart Italian table grape exports to Canada – blocked since 2010 – went well. The new agreement followed a positive assessment provided by the phytosanitary experts sent by the Canadian government in October to visit production areas in Basilicata, Puglia and Sicily.
Producers interested in exporting their fruit to Canada will soon be able to initiate the necessary procedures. It is quite an important accomplishment for the Italian table grape sector, and one made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry with Producer Organisation and Regional institutions.
