CANBERRA: The Australian Taxation Office website is back online after crashing yet again today — the latest in a string of major outages to affect users over the past six months. ATO technicians managed to get the website back up and running by 1.30pm after three hours. “Sorry for the disruption this morning’s outage caused. Your patience was appreciated,” an ATO statement said.
The ATO website suffered its first major outage in December last year and was left scrambling to recover the equivalent of 20 million four-drawer filing cabinets of data. It crashed again briefly in February and April. An update on the ATO’s separate information page at 12.15pm today said technicians were still working to fix the problem. It said customers would be notified of any progress at 3pm if the outage continued.
