CANBERRA: Australia introduced Samsung’s latest generation of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones go on sale next month, with promises of a boosted battery life and wireless charging support on both gadgets and a curved high-resolution screen on the GS6 Edge. Either phone can be juiced-up when resting on a compatible wireless charging pad, while the manufacturer claims that just ten minutes of traditional wired charging will provide enough power for around four hours of usage.
Encased in a mix of metal and hardened glass, you’ll find a 16 megapixel camera on the rear for crystal-clear photos and a five megapixel camera on the front for video chats and ‘selfies’, both of which can be activated with a quick double click of the home key button.
There’s also a built-in fingerprint scanner to easily unlock either smartphone model – both of which come in a choice of either White Pearl or Black Sapphire – and can replace your Westpac or Commonwealth Bank credit card where Visa Paywave or MasterCard PayPass is accepted.
Samsung’s new, simplified interface also claims to make the gadgets easier to navigate, with users of the Galaxy S6 Edge also able to swipe the edge of the curved screen to quickly check for calls and notifications from their favourite contacts.
