LISBON: Portugal’s consumer price index (CPI) in August was down 0.2 percent on the month and up 0.7 percent on the year – an inflation rate one tenth of a percentage point higher than that for July, according to the latest report from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to INE’s figures the underlying inflation index, which excludes prices for unprocessed food and energy, in August was 0.6 percent (down from 0.8 percent the previous month).
The monthly variation in the CPI was -0.2 percent (-0.7 percent in July and -0.3 percent in August 2015), while the average rate for the last 12 months remained unchanged at 0.6 percent.
