ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) received report of anti-smuggling department and Pakistan Rangers in which they have claimed seizures of Rs3 billions of cloths, 6.2 million liter diesel, 1,000 vehicles, 13kg of gold and foreign currency during fiscal year 2017-18.
Sources told Customs Today that these smuggled goods were seized on Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders jointly by the anti-smuggling department and Pakistan Rangers.
Sources said that Pakistan Customs Enforcement jointly with Pakistan Rangers impounded 1,012 non-duty paid vehicles during FY 2017-18, while 664 non-duty paid vehicles were seized during FY 2016-17. On the other hand, sources added that during FY 2016-17, 4.3 liters of liquor was seized meanwhile during previous FY (2017-18), around 6.2 million liter of liquor was seized.
According to the report received by FBR, smuggled cloth, electronics and other goods having worth of Rs3.7 billion were seized during FY2017-18, while during FY-2016-17, Rs 2.4 billion of smuggled cloth, electronics and other misc goods were seized on the said borders.
