LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of non-duty paid items during different crackdowns.
Sources told Customs Today that after receiving information, an ASO team raided the premises of a goods transport company and recovered 10 cartons of match crackers and sofa cloth worth Rs 4,000,000.
The ASO team asked the manager of the company to produce legal documents but he failed to satisfy the ASO team. The ASO team after registering a case seized the goods. The team comprising Inspectors Qayyum Butter, Ijaz Butt, M.A. Iqbal, Ijaz Butt and Mansoor Elahi took part in the operation.
During another crackdown, the ASO team intercepted a Suzuki pick-up near Naulakha police station and recovered 23,4250 sashay of UAE origin gutka and 230 cartons of juices. The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession of the items but he failed to provide relevant documents. The ASO team seized the goods and registered a case against the accused persons.
