ISLAMABAD: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Assistant Collector Rao Fahad Iqbal said that Customs squad of Islamabad with assistance of Rawalpindi Police launched a huge crackdown on three godowns located at Gangmandi Rawalpindi and seized huge quantity of goods worth Rs120 million.
Talking with Customs Today, he said that that secret information was forwarded by the Collector Seema Raza Bokhari that huge quantity of smuggled goods are dumped in various godowns at Rawalpindi (Gangmandi) area.
After getting the said information, the Additional Collector directed and formed a squad led by Assistant Collector Fahad Iqbal including superintendents Arif Dar and Matloob Shah along with inspectors Asghar Kamal, Azhar Jafri, Gul Nawaz and Shafiq ul Rehman and staff of grade V.
The squads conducted raids and seized huge quantity of smuggled goods including cigarettes, ‘sheesha’, cloth, cosmetics, chocolates, and toiletries, adding that the Customs staff shifted the goods in Mazda trucks to State Warehouse while after scrutiny of seized goods they found that total value of goods is around Rs 120 million. The case has been registered and further investigation is under process.
