ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad took into possession fresh Indian ginger and other smuggling goods along with an offending vehicle worth Rs3.59million at Chungi No: 26 Islamabad.
According to details explained by sources of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad that, on an actionable tip-off, Saeed Khan Jadoon, Collector MCC Islamabad, formed a team which set up a picket at No: 26 Chungi. The team intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration No: MDX-A-670. The ASO staff asked the possessor of goods to provide any tax paid proof but he failed to do so.
The sources told CT that, after the search, the ASO staff found 9,291 kilogram of Indian origin fresh ginger, 55-kg of foreign origin cushion covers and cotton fabric, 28 kilogram of foreign origin ladies handbags and 28 kilogram of foreign origin wall-hangings.
The ASO staff seized the above said smuggling items and deposited them into state ware house along with the offending vehicle (vehicle used for carrying smuggling goods).
An FIR has been lodged against the culprit and the offending vehicle impounded. The case has been forwarded to Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department for further investigation.
The party, which took part in the action, comprised Inspector Abdul Hafeed, Abdul Malaak and Junaid, Superintendent of the ASO Islamabad.
