KARACHI: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has started investigation into the smuggled Iranian origin high speed diesel which was seized by the Ajmair Nagri Police.
According to sources, an ASO team tried to intercept a truck bearing registration no: TKJ-073, but its driver fled away. However, the Ajmair Nagri Police intercepted the same truck at Manghopir. During the search of the vehicle, 10,000 liter of Iranian origin diesel was recovered. The police handed over the truck and two suspects, driver Gul Najeem and conductor Aziz Gul, to the ASO.
A case has been registered against the culprits and further investigation is underway. The truck was specially modified for the purpose of the smuggling. Both the truck and the recovered ten thousand liters of smuggled Iranian origin High Speed Diesel (HSD) worth millions of rupees in the market, added the source.
