KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs has unearthed an attempt of millions of rupees tax evasion through transshipment at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT).
According to the details, on the tip of Collector Customs Appraisement West Wajid Ali, a team of Research and Development (R&D) Section of Customs Appraisement West conducted a raid at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and unearth an attempt of millions of rupees tax evasion through transshipment.
Sources told Customs Today that the Appraisement West perusing the information regarding the tax evasion conducted a raid at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and during the investigation as well as search found that the M/s Al-Jibran Engineering Lahore imported cellular phones, tablets and other electronic items over the declaration of used auto parts from United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The container of the said consignment was bonded by the carrier M/s Saifur Rehman Company had to be sent to Lahore destination, added the Customs officer while sharing information of tax evasion by the M/s Al-Jibran Engineering Lahore.
During the search of the consignment sealed in the container filled up with the expensive cellular phones, tablets, satellite dish receivers, CCTV cameras, copper refrigeration tubs, ball abrring, finger print scanners, dialysis machines and Circuit barkers along with other items.
Customs Appraisement West officers has lodged an FIR against the tax evasion by the M/s Al-Jibran Engineering Lahore and has started further investigations to root out the matter.
M/s Al-Jibran Engineering Lahore has been found guilty and has committed a heinous crime of tax evasion by causing six crore rupees loss to the revenue. All the said items imported over the declaration of used Auto Parts have been taken into the custody by the officers of the Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement West.
