KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West has issued a demand-cum-show cause notice to M/s Emaan Enterprises for short payment of Rs 50,851 on import of industrial v-timing rubber belt.
On post scrutiny of the released goods, it was observed by the Customs Internal Audit department that M/s Emaan Enterprises imported consignment of rubber belt for clearance thereof claiming benefits of SRO 659(I)/2007 dated June 30, 2007, sources told Customs Today.
Whereas scrutiny of consignment revealed that the benefit of SRO 659(I)/2007 are not admissible which resulted into short recovery of Rs 50,851 on account of customs duty.
Therefore, M/s Emaan Enterprises served with this notice to pay the recoverable amount of duty and taxes in terms of Section 32(3) of the Customs Act, 1969 within served days from receipt of this notice as to why the amount demanded should not be recovered from you. Your reply should reach on or before April 2, 2016.
The hearing is fixed for first week of April 2016 and the importer/clearing agents asked to defend the case with substantial documents if any. If no reply to this notice is received within the specified date, it will be presumed that importer do not wish to contest the finalization of the case and the demanded amount will be recovered under Section202 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Chapter-XI of the customs rules.
