KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West has allowed concessionary rates of sales tax to M/s Barkat Limited, Hyderabad on import of textile fabrics.
In this regard, Deputy Collector Mahwish Shah addressed to Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Inland Revenue deputy director for verification of industrial/manufacturing status for the purpose of allowing exemption of sales tax.
M/s Barkat Limited, Hyderabad, have imported consignments of textile fabric vide Goods Declaration No. KAPW-HC-132432-16.01.2016 and claimed concessionary rates of sales tax ad admissible to manufacturer/industrial undertaking under the provisions of SRO 1125(I)/2011 dated 31.12.2011, says the deputy collector.
The importer has provided certificate from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, confirming the status of the unit as exporter/importers of textile and allied products.
The benefits claimed concessionary rate of sales under SRO 1125(I)/2011 dated December 31, 2011 has been extended to the importer-cum-manufacturer. As per computer record, the unit has imported various types of fabrics valuing Rs 239.32 millions in recent past, DC Mahwish Shah added.
It is requested that physical verification/survey of the aforesaid manufacturing unit may please be conducted confirming the following. Whether the aforesaid unit is involved in manufacturing activities of textile made-ups/garments and what kinds of goods/items are being produced. Whether manufacturing capability commensurate with the imported raw material i.e. fabrics. Whether the unit is entitle for benefit of concessionary rate of sales tax as admissible to manufacturer/industrial undertaking under the provisions of SRO 1125(I)/2011 dated December 31, 2011 or otherwise.
