MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Bureau has recovered Rs. 2.3 million in over Rs. 7 billion Mirpur greater water supply scandal case through plea bargain and deposited it in the public exchequer.
Sources told media on Tuesday that the gigantic greater water supply and sewerage project in Mirpur was approved in 2005 but it was not completed within the stipulated time frame.
According to the agreement and work order the firm M/s. ACE Lahore did not deposit back up and break up for third party report which cost Rs.2.3 million’ loss to the government exchequer.
The accused confessing their fault offered to deposit Rs. 2.3 million in the AJK AB account through plea bargain. The AJK Accountability Court accepted the request of the accused and ordered for recovery of the money from the defendants.
The AJK AB also freeze more than Rs. 30 millions in the mode of payments, for substandard and faulty work on the mega project.
