ISLAMABAD: Deduction of airways’ bills is a phenomenon for Air Freight Unit (AFU), Islamabad. The administration of AFU is seriously digging out this problem as the AFU has been lodging several FIRs against importers.
This was stated by Khawaja Khuram Naeem, Additional Deputy Collector (ADC), AFU, Islamabad, during an exclusive interview with Customs Today.
He said the AFU is optimistic about the plus revenue collection target of upcoming 3rd quarter of Financial Year (January to March 2016-17), adding “we are on target and will have to meet all the targets till date”.
He said the AFU wants to enhance its efficiency for the best performance in this regard. He emphasized that the AFU wants improvement through audit and facilitation which will ultimately benefit the business community.
Answering a query regarding the customs duty collection during July to December FY16-17, he said the AFU composed satisfactory revenue collection during above said period, maintaining that during December FY16-17 the AFU collected revenue of Rs160.91million under head of the Customs Duty (CD).
He further said that during above said period the AFU collected revenue of Rs124.68million under head of CD. During November FY16-17 the AFU collected revenue of Rs126.71million in October whereas the AFU collected revenue of Rs121.68million during September. The AFU collected revenue of Rs145.24million during August and collected revenue of Rs95.16million during July FY16-17 under head of Customs Duty (CD).
Answering another question regarding the collection of Sales Tax, he said the AFU collected revenue of Rs363.76million under the said head during December FY16-17. It collected revenue in shape of Sales Tax (ST) randomly like Rs277.87million during November, Rs187.00million during October, Rs271.61m during September, Rs292.22m during August and Rs175.35million of ST during July FY16-17.
Additional Deputy Collector, AFU, answering yet another query of Customs Today, he substantiated AFU’s performance regarding the collection of Income Tax throughout the first half of Financial Year 2016-17. He added that during December FY16-17 the AFU collected revenue of Rs167.37million under head of Income Tax (IT) and it collected IT Rs141.06million randomly during November, Rs144.71million during October, Rs128.04m during September, Rs145.73m during August and Rs12014million during July FY2016-17 under head of Income Tax.
He remarked that the AFU collected month-wise revenues during first half of current Financial Year 2016-17 under head of additional Sales Tax (Add.ST), saying it collected Rs27.84million during December, Rs23.56m during November, Rs.21.58m during October, did revenue of Rs33.03m during month of September, Rs27.21m during August and collected revenue of Rs14.67million during month of July FY16-17 under head of additional Sales Tax (ST).
