KARACHI: The Appraising Intelligence Branch (AIB/R&D) has detected a massive tax evasion (under-invoicing) case amounting to Rs8.9million against the importer Adamjee Limited in import of auto-parts.
Sources informed Customs Today that Collector-MCC Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem, taking action on the information, has formed a team supervised by Additional Collector-ADC Nayyar Shafique along with Principal Appraiser Abdul Qayyum, Appraising Officer (AO) Shair Khan and Examining Officer Anwar Zaib to detect these cases.
The AIB team after scrutinising the data, found that the importer Adamjee Limited through under-invoicing imported three to four consignments of auto-parts on which the importer attempted to evade legitimate duty/taxes amounting to Rs8.9million.
After detecting the under-invoicing, the AIB/R&D authorities concerned have sent demand notice to the importer Adamjee Limited in order to deposit legitimate duty/taxes.
The sources further informed this scribe that the AIB/R&D authorities concerned have prepared reminders against those importers who have not yet paid their legitimate duty/taxes in import of different consignments.
