PESHAWAR: The Collector Customs Collectorate Peshawar Gul Rahman has directed the Air Flight Unit (AFU) of BIAP Peshawar to increase the revenue collection during current month of October by smart seizures of smuggling carried out through Peshawar Airport.
The sources told Customs Today on Wednesday that the Collector Customs was informed by AFU of BIAP about the net collection done during first 18 days of October in which it has collected Rs 8.46 million. The AFU generated an amount of Rs 2.31 million under the head of customs duty during the above said period.
The AFU generated an amount of Rs 3.52 million under the head of sales tax on items exported through Bacha Khan International Airport. The AFU collected Rs 1.28 million ST on VM imports and an amount of Rs 2.36 million was collected under the head of federal excise duty in first 18 days of October.
The Collector Customs directed AFU to speed up the anti-smuggling drive announced by Peshawar Collectorate in order to curb smuggling and increase the revenue collection of AFU BIAP Peshawar in current Fiscal Year 2017-18.
The Collector Gul Rahman announced that the Collectorate will send special inspection teams to spot the activities of Customs officials at the airport.
