ISLAMABAD: The Customs Export Section of the Air Freight Unit (AFU) at the BBI Airport Islamabad earned Rs14963.85million revenue during seven months from July to January FY16-17. The AFU Exports Section processed 16618 goods declarations during above said period. The Customs Export Section of the AFU received more exports business of Rs3.77million than the assigned target for January 2017.
According to details, Dr. Tahir Iqbal Khattak, Deputy Collector Export AFU, said the performance of the Export Section is above expectation of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad.
During the first seven months of FY16-17, the exports of textile garments were on the rise as compared to other items out of total consignments as above 50% earning consisted of textile fabrics and garments, Dr. Tahir said.
He said that during January FY16-17, the Export Section of the AFU generated collection of Rs1775.81million against the set target of Rs1708.78million. During above said period, the Export Section earned business by exporing chilled meat, surgical instruments and leather goods.
Tahir Khattak told Customs Today that Pakistani Halal meat is popular in Middle East and Pak leather goods and surgical items are also popular in the international market. He maintained that the government always provided best facilities to exporters for promotion of Pakistani products. He predicted that the AFU export will not only meet its set targets but also exceed the given ones.
He said Collector MCC and Chief Collector North are paying special attention to enhance the value of exports and advised the AFU export staff to accommodate the exporters ar every stage as exports promote the image of the country.
