ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has informed all chief commissioners and commissioners that only those officials will be considered for promotion and rewards who will show outstanding performance. The FBR has also made it clear that there will be no compromise on performance.
Sources told Customs Today that an important meeting was recently held under the chairmanship of Advisor to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan in which FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan, Member Inland Revenue Dr Mohammad Irshad, and chief commissioners of the Large Tax Payers Unit, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Sialkot, and Abbottabad also participated.
The participants of the meeting reviewed the performance of all the collectorate in achieving revenue collection target set for fiscal year 2015-16. Addressing the participants Advisor to Prime Miniser Haroon Akhtar said that only way for progress is to enhance revenue. He urged all the officials to utilise all resources to recover outstanding tax amount from tax defaulters.
He advised tax officials to take stern action against those tax evaders who are avoiding to pay taxes willfully. He said that all Regional Tax Offices must achieve their assigned revenue target in all respect and use all resources in this regard.
He said all those officials will by encouraged by the department who will show outstanding performane in achieving revenue target. On this occasion Member Inland Revenue Dr. Mohammad Irshad said that those chief commissioners who will fail to achieve revenue target will not be considered for incentives and promotions and no excuse will be entertained from them.
He said that during the holy month of Ramzan all field formations staff should perform their duties honestly so the department achieve revenue collection target. He said that all RTOs and LTUs must collect Rs3100billion. He advised all collectorates to show oustanding performance in achieving revenue collection target set for Fiscal Year 2015-16.
