LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Zahra Haider has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) 07/2017.
Brief facts of the case as reported by the Superintendent Customs, ASO Model Customs Collectorate Lahore vide contravention report no: 141/2017 dated 6.6.2017 are that, pursuant to an information on 29.4.2017, anti-smuggling staff intercepted a Toyota Mark-X bearing registration plate number ED-900 Islamabad at Liberty Market, Gulberg Lahore.
The person, available on the driving seat claimed the ownership of the above said car and introduced himself as Muhammad Waqas son of Muhammad Sagir, Icchra Lahore. On demand the said driver failed to provide any relevant legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle.
Initially the said vehicle was detained under section 2 (kk) of Customs Act, 1969 for want of import documents. During the course of investigation a notice vide letter 01/ASO-104/2017/200 dated 3.5.2017 was also issued to the said owner under section 166 of Customs Act, 1969 requiring therein documents pertaining to legal import of the said vehicle but the said owner did not turn even after laps of sufficient. The said car was referred to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency Lahore for examination of its chassis frame . The aforesaid agency opined that the vehicle has not been tempered.
After examining the whole case Customs Adjducation Additional Collector Zahra Haider issued Order-in-Original in favour of Customs Anti Smuggling Organization by declaring the seizure of Toyota Mark-X car as legal.
It is necessary to mention here that Customs Adjudication already expedited its efforts to conclude the hearing of pending cases on priority basis.
