FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saeed Asad has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) against the accused person Agha Muhammad son of Abdul Zahir resident of Mohallah Mosa G Line, Killi Durani , Quetta (driver of the vehicle) and second person named as Shaheen khan Son of Takari Mir Hazar Quetta .
As per the details, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) team impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Folder car bearing registration number AAN- 349 chassis number. NZE121-3336528 , engine no. INZ- Ao702357 , model 2005 , capacity 1496CC ,color black . The team asked the driver identified himself as Agha Muhammad son of Abdul Zahir to produce legal customs-duty paid documents but they was failed to produce the same. On this the customs authorities impounded the vehicles.
It has been observed from the available record of the case that the chassis number of the impounded vehicle has been found cut and welded with chassis number of some other vehicle.
The examination team of Faisalabad Customs along with representative of Faisalabad Dry Port Trust (FDPT) during examination observed that the condition as well of the vehicle and smuggled one. It was suspected that high tariff good have been replaced with low tariff good.
It is necessary to mention here after impounded the vehicle neither importer nor his authorised person approached for clearance of their consignment. Later, the case was sent to the adjudication for further legal action.
Superintendent Mohammad Ramzan ,Inspector Abdul Jabbar, Safdar Ali and Tahir Iqbal , Nasser Ahmed and Muhammad Saleem , appeared before the authority, while no one appeared to defend the case from respondent’s side nor any written reply was received from the respondent.
Therefore, Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saeed Asad ordered to impounded the vehicle under clause 14 of Section 156 (1), 157(1) and (2) of Customs Act, 1969.
