FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam Ramzan has issued Order-in-Original against M/s Jeway Pakistan Company.
Sources informed Customs Today that M/s Jeway Pakistan Company imported a container of engine oil from UAE. The said consignment was transshipped from Quetta to Faisalabad Dry Port through bonded carrier logistics. After arrival of the said container, neither importer nor his authorized person approached for clearance of their consignment.
The examination team of Customs Faisalabad along with representative of FDPT during examination, the bolt and rivets of the door of the container were apparently found tempered/altered.
It was also observed that the condition as well as packing of goods was quite shabby and not up to mark. It was suspected that pilferage of cargo has been taken place in the container and high tariff good were replaced with low tariff goods. It is pertinent to mention here that an FIR has been lodged against accused company.
Sources said Appraiser Muhammad Jameel Ahmed and Inspector Amjad Iqbal Cheema appeared in adjudication department but no one appeared to defend the case from respondent’s side and no written reply was received from the respondent.
Therefore Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Beelamur Ramzan ordered to seize the goods under clause 14 of section 156(1) and section 157(1) and (2) of the Customs Act 1969.
