FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Asma Hameed issued a show cause notice to a suspect involved in foreign origin black tea, Pan Parag gutka, led pencil worth Rs1,875,000. The case was forwarded by ASO Mianwali ASO.
Sources told Customs Today that Mianwali ASO intercepted a passenger bus loaded with 250 kilograms of black tea, Pan Prag gutha 150 kilograms and led pencil 19952 pieces. The team asked the driver to show documents regarding legal import of the items. But the driver failed to show document regarding the goods. The officials impounded the items under customs rules and regulations.
The Customs Adjudication issued notices to accused person on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act 1969. The accused has been called upon to show cause as to why the impounded goods should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused persons to file their replies by given date on 27-3-2019 which is also last date of hearing. The case of items might be decided in the next hearing, sources informed.
