KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 169,072 tonnes of cargo comprising 133,175 tonnes of import cargo and 35,897 tonnes of export cargo including 5,831 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 133,175 tonnes comprised of 52,902 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,655 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,044 tonnes of rock phosphate and 70,574 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 35,897 tonnes comprised of 32,349 tonnes of containerised cargo; 240 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,308 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,831 containers comprising of 2,946 containers import and 2,885 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,232 of 20’s and 723 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 134 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 816 of 20’s and 283 of 40’s loaded containers while 179 of 20’s and 662 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Northern Dedication, Sea Ambition, Seamax Bridgeport, Banasol, DA Cuiyun and Sophia K carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. Beuing Bridge, Hyundai Brave, Diyala, Liana, Lake Sturgeon, Pacific Rawan, Olivia, Europa Bay, Jy Xhoushan and Rickmers Hamburg carrying containers, oil tanker, talcum powder, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM: A cargo volume of 119,003 tonnes comprising 82,713 tonnes of import cargo and 36,290 tonnes of export cargo including 2,321 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 82,713 tonnes includes 2,007 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,110 tonnes of palm oil; 45,898 tonnes of coal; 4,847 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 17,042 tonnes of mogas and 7,809 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 36,290 tonnes includes 36,290 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,321 containers comprising of 411 containers import and 1,910 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely CMA CGM Butterfly and Nicoline Maersk carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while five more ships namely Orange Harmony, Genco Aquitaine, Pacific Valor, Analipsi Lady and NCC Sudair carrying soyabean seeds, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen vessels viz. MSC Pamela, Xin Hua, Medi Serapo, Thor Madoc, Indigo Flora, Nord Traveler, Heroic Striker, Alani, Flex Ranger, Caspian Gas, BW Panther, Bani Yas, Dory, Maritime Suzanne, Able Sailor and NCC Sama respectively carrying containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, LNG, LPG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Pamela, Heroic Striker, Medi Serapo, Flex Ranger and Maritime Suzanne carrying containers, coal, canola, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday There is one ship namely MSC Tomoko carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
