KARACHI: The Judicial Magistrate Malir sent an accused, Muhammad Kashif S/o Muhammad Rafiq, on physical remand who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle contraband mobile phones and smart watches sent from Dubai by the M/s Fly Dubai Airlines flight No: FZ-331.
Investigation officer produced above named accused before the customs court, however he was informed by the court that court time had ended therefore investigation officer reached Malir and produced accused before Judicial Magistrate and submitted that on credible information staff of the customs department dated March 11, 2017 intercepted the above mentioned accused and recovered i-Phones assorted (used) 60 Nos, Samsung Mobile Phones (used) 64 Nos, Smart Wrist Watches (SIM operated) 126 Nos, empty mobile phones boxes 30 Nos and mobile phones chargers 20 Nos from his possession.
He further informed the court that during the formalities, accused failed to produce any lawful documents of the abovementioned goods therefore after fulfilling formalities goods were seized and accused arrested by the customs authorities.
After his arguments, the court sent the accused to customs department and directed the IO to produce him on the next date of hearing along with a progress report before the customs court.
The case was registered against him in violation of Section 2 (s) 16 and 139 of the Customs Act-1969 punishable under clauses (8) (9) & 70 of Section 156 (i) ibid read with baggage rules notified vide SRO-666 (1)/2006 dated 28/06/2006 of Section 3 (iii) of Import & Export (Control) Act-1950.
