ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court (AC) on Monday extended the physical remand of two accused former Secretary Shahid Rafi, Laeeq Ahmed and handed their custody to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for further investigation in a rental power case.
NAB teams had arrested the former secretary on Friday (April 19) from his residence in the Federal capital and produced the accused in court which granted the remand till Monday for interrogation.
The accused are allegedly involved in various scams being probed by the accountability bureau and were also nominated in references filed in rental power case.
The NAB on the day presented both the accused in court after expiry of their remand and sough further remand for interrogation.
The court considered the plea of further physical remand valid, handed over both the accused to NAB by granting the remand of Shahid Rafi till April 29 and Laeeq Ahmed’s till May 3.
It is worth mentioning that former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was also being tried in these references over corruption charges and most probably would be indicted on April 29 in the accountability court.
