HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Jacobabad has confiscated foreign origin smuggled non-duty-paid 9000 pieces of cannulas and sewing machines worth Rs1.3million duties and taxes during an action at a checkpost of Jacobabad in the July 2017.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts. He constituted an ASO team under the supervision of Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro.
The team, comprising In-charge of Customs Preventive ASO Jacobabad Aziz Katpar, Inspector Ray Abro, Inspector Nasarullah Gilal, Inspector Agha Nazir, Sepoys and a Driver, took part in the operation.
The team intercepted a vehicle of a local transport company near checkpost Jacobabad and recovered foreign origin smuggled non-duty-paid 9000 pieces of cannulas and sewing machines valued at Rs1.3million.
The ASO team asked the driver for produing the legal documents of the possession and import of the items but he failed to do so. Therefore customs impounded the goods following the customs bylaws.
After making a seizure report, the ASO deposited the confiscated goods into the state warehouse Sukkur.
