HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad, Customs Preventive Sukkur, has impounded foreign origin non-duty-paid 7,821 pouches of Safina Guttka made in India worth Rs244406 including duties and taxes during an action near a customs check-post of Jacobabad, Larkana-Sukkur Division, during the month of February 2018.
Following strict guidelines of MCC Hyderabad Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, the ASO team conducted various anti-smuggling activities to protect the national exchequer and inflation.
The team, headed by Additional Collector Customs MCC Hyderabad Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid, constituted a raiding party comprising of an In-Charge, Inspectors and Sepoys and a Driver, participated in the action.
The team intercepted a public transport vehicle near customs check-post, Jacobabad-Sukkur Division, and recovered abovementioned Indian Guttka.
Before the recovery, officials asked the driver to produce any legal document about the possession of the items but he was unable to do so therefore the consignment was seized.
A case was registered and an investigation also started. Officials said that Hyderabad Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq had directed that effective measures be taken for aborting the smuggling attempts in the region.
