650,000 drug pills, 21kg hashish seized in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY: Drug Control General Department Officers foiled an attempt by a Syrian expatriate to smuggle 650000 narcotic pills plus 21kg of hashish via the land borders of a neighboring country, statement from the Security Information Department of Interior Ministry.

A Bedoun woman was also arrested in connection with the case, while her male compatriot and partner in crime is still at large, statement added. Apparently, anti-narcotics men received a tip-off about the smuggling activities of the Syrian expatriate and a team was formed to follow-up the information.

Legal measures were taken to bring the suspect down after a team of detectives confirmed the report. He was arrested and the securitymen recovered 200 thousand narcotic pills plus 21kg of hashish in the secret compartment of his heavy-duty truck. In the meantime, the suspect led the police to his accomplice, the Bedoun lady.

She was arrested after a raid in her apartment where officers found 450 thousand narcotic pills. She also named the Bedoun man as the partner in crime and main supplier of the contraband. Steps have since been taken to trail him. The first and second suspects were referred to drug prosecution.
