KARACHI: The Customs court directed investigation officer of customs preventive to complete investigation and submit charge sheet in a case of attempting to smuggling of foreign origin cigarettes, gutkha etc.
On June, 2019, investigation officer of Customs Preventive appeared before the court and argued that on a credible information, a team of customs department raided near Ferozpur Wala Builing, Jaswani Road, S.M Science College, Karachi and found that a consignment of various cartons and PP bags were lying alongside the road and was about be shifted somewhere else in the city.
He further submitted that during the search, customs officials found 440 dandas Dunhil Switch Cigarettes, British American valuing of Rs528,000. 800 dandas Dunhil Signature Blend, King size filter, Tobacco London worth Rs1,200,000, 1100 dandas Benson & Hedges Special Filter cigarettes London valuing of Rs. 1,650,000. 82500 pouches Reshmi Pan Pasala (330kg) worth Rs1,650,000. 375 kg One-2-One gutkha packed in UAE valuing of Rs. 3,750,000. 52.5 kg Z-21 gutkha made in India valuing of Rs525,000. 350 kg J.M gutkha made in India valuing of Rs3,500,000.
Investigation officer further informed that efforts are afoot to arrest the owner and accused persons and other associates involved in this mode of seam and they will be produced before the court when arrested, therefore, court may grant time, after the hearing, court granted further time and directed him to produced suspects and submit challan on next date of hearing.
