PESHAWAR: The Trade and Transit Section in the Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar said on Monday that a new era in the history of trade and disruption of business between countries and multinational companies will also be marked.
The China Pakistan Economic Corridor is an irritant in the eyes of neighbours who don’t want the upgrade of economic condition in Pakistan to facilitate a better world in this part of region for business and economic growth. The Chinese customs will provide assistance to use the new customs tools and technology.
When asked about the role of Customs Department to ensure smooth flow of trade on transit route for international exporters and importers, it said other tools will be used to transfer goods to the destinations once the new computerized online system to verify the products are fully installed which will facilitate the international trade activities throughout Pakistan.
It said Afghanistan traders and Afghan customs need to inform the government about the real loss to people on both sides of the border and to the national exchequers of both countries. Following the Afghan forces’ aggression on Friday, all the borders have been closed for every kind of commercial activities since three days with Afghanistan.
Following that, CPEC will help establish a modern customs checking system to verify the charged customs duties on various imports on every entry and exit point. For now all kinds of commercial activities, including NATO supply, Afghan Transit Trade, are stopped due to violation of border management rules, he added.
The friendship gate at Chaman remained closed for third day on Monday while strict steps have been taken to protect the Gate at Torkham Border which will incur millions of rupees loss to the exporters and importers.
The rate at which goods have to be transferred might cause a stop for new tariff to enter into the stream of business. Heavy weapons have also been deployed along the front line. Security along the border is extremely tight and Pak Army helicopters are continually monitoring the border.
For beneficial and sustainable trade and transit activities between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the border management system has to be upgraded for the reason that borders with Afghanistan no longer remain friendly after the attacks on the check-posts and adjacent villages by afghan forces.
The crises of border management will hurt the trade and transit activities between Pakistan and Afghanistan once again under the spotlight which the Pakistan Army has declared as ‘No Go Area’ from the four kilometer border at Chaman . Several villages have also been vacated.
