ISLAMABAD: The Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) is facing 1300 mmcfd (million cubic feet) gas shortfall and going to implement load-management plan in the biggest province (in population) of the country, Punjab, and federal capital.
Sources said that the SNGPL would implement load-management plan in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Multan, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur regions.
The fire in a boiler and a 16″ diameter pipeline at the Sui plant caused suspension of 240 mmcfd gas to the system. The current gas input at SNGPL system is 1500 mmcfd whereas demand is 2800 mmcfd.
The SNGPL has also suspended gas supply to Captive Power Plants (CPPs) and textile and other industries to curb low gas pressure, but the domestic consumers across the province is facing low gas pressure during suspension of 240 mmcfd gas from SNGPL system through PPL pipeline.
