PESHAWAR: District administration Peshawar sealed more than 18 marble factories in crackdown against illegal marble units in Patwar Payan, a suburban locality of the provincial metropolis.
In this connection, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar, an Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) along with officials of Environment Department conducted raids in Patwar Payan locality of Warsak Road and sealed 18 illegally operating marble factories.
The waste of these factories during crushing was directing flown to drains without recycling, resulting in the blockade of the drains to pollute the water of the streams and drains. Due to the closure of the drains most of water during rains was used to enter the houses and was creating difficulties for the dwellers of the locality.
The owners of the sealed marble factories have been directed for following the code of conduct of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in letter and spirit and make arrangements for the recycling of the waste water of their factories before their flow to drains. Otherwise, stern action will be taken against them.
